Arrested Punjab jail officer’s party video surfaces amid Hoshiarpur drug probe
The officer seen in the video has been identified as Harbhajan Singh, who was recently arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, the incident took place at around 2:30 a.m. when the accused reportedly entered the temple premises through a small gate near the ‘havan kund.’
Temple authorities said the thief stole a six-kilogram silver canopy (chhatra) and a two-kilogram silver crown placed on the idol of Lord Hanuman.
A theft worth several lakh rupees was reported at the ancient Hanuman Temple in Sector-8, Faridabad, where an unidentified person allegedly decamped with silver ornaments adorning the deity, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place at around 2:30 a.m. when the accused reportedly entered the temple premises through a small gate near the ‘havan kund.’ CCTV cameras installed inside the temple captured the entire sequence of the burglary.

Temple authorities said the thief stole a six-kilogram silver canopy (chhatra) and a two-kilogram silver crown placed on the idol of Lord Hanuman before fleeing the spot. The accused had allegedly covered his face with a cloth to conceal his identity.

The theft came to light when priests opened the temple in the morning and found the ornaments missing. The temple management immediately informed the police.
The temple priest expressed suspicion that the crime may have been committed by someone familiar with the temple premises, though no official confirmation has been made by investigators.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information, inspected the scene, and seized CCTV footage for examination. Officials said efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused based on the surveillance footage.
The in-charge of the local police outpost said a case has been taken up and assured that the accused would be arrested soon. Further investigation is in progress.
